The Pirates Need Your Help!

6 Feb 2019 by Anthony Pearce

Dear Pirate Family

The 2019 season is fast approaching, and the players are doing their part on the training track. Numbers have been fantastic so far and enthusiasm is high for the season ahead. The committee have also been hard at work putting in place the infrastructure required to make us successful on and off field.

To give us the best chance of success though we need help from our supporters.

Our most urgent requirements are finding a reserves coach and team managers for all three teams.

With our senior and under 19 coaching teams in place we are looking to find someone with a interest in coaching who can help compliment our existing coaching structure. The existing coaches and committee will give anyone interested all the support they need, including getting the required accreditation if that is needed.

The team managers role is crucial, but isn’t as scary as it may seem. The committee will work with anyone interested to make the job as easy as possible.

As the season approaches we will also need to fill the following roles for match days:

Goal umpire
Scoreboard attendants
Time keeper
Waterboy(s)
Interchange stewards
Umpires escort

These roles can be filled on a week to week basis so there is no need to commit to all 18 games. You can commit to as many games as you are able to.

There are also some off field jobs that we will love to fill before the season starts.

Meat tray raffle boss (involve picking up meat tray for home games and organising selling the tickets)
Nifty fifty boss (get it set up and organise people to sell tickets)
Sponsors sign boss (arriving early to put out A frames & sponsors signs)
Afternoon tea boss

Any Pirate supporter who thinks they may be able to help fill one of the positions above – or is prepared to help out in any capacity – should contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Adam Crean acreanplumbing@bigpond.com or President Jamie Rhodes Jamie Rhodesjamie.rhodes@porterdavis.com.au
